The World Needs More Epic Love Stories

What Makes a Love Story Epic?

Is it the chase, the wait, or the pure chemistry between two people?

I’m very much a hopeless romantic. I believe everyone should have an epic love story, at least once in their lives. Maybe it is from binge watching 80’s/90’s romance movies all weekend or coming to realize that we live in a totally different world now where this doesn’t happen often.

Opening doors, writing notes, and ringing a door bell all seem to be things of the past. But, maybe that is what makes everything worth it, right? Doing all the small things for your person daily builds a wonderful foundation for a relationship.

Relationships are a lot different in today’s world. Most people meet over dating apps or social media. If it isn’t from the internet, it’s from someone trying to get into your pants within the first five minutes of knowing you. It just isn’t the same. I think there should be that awkward phase of getting to know each other. There should be a period of waiting, the anticipation is what makes it so much more exciting, in my opinion. If you play all your cards in the first week, what else are you going to do?

Being a hopeless romantic, I expect so much from my other half. And he does not disappoint. From the first time we hung out, to this day, he opens the car door for me. When would be on opposite shifts, he would always leave me a note saying something sweet (I still have all the notes saved in a box). We have had to spend a lot of time apart (thanks military) and I think thats what makes us appreciate the time we have together so much more. I feel like I need to soak up all our time together because each second counts. When we are apart, even when we get busy during the days we always say good morning and goodnight if we can. I think its the little things that matter most.

Your love story doesn’t have to be some Romeo and Juliet love story to be epic. It can simply be the person that showed up in your life unexpectedly and does all those little things to show their love for you.

  1. I first met my husband when I was 14, he was friends with my boyfriend´s older brother at the time and he´s 11 years older than me.
When I was 15 I already knew I was going to marry him someday and I told him so, he laughed and patted me on the head, he was dating someone steadily at the time but 4 years later we started dating and got married only 8 months after that!
We are still married to this day and we have a beautiful daughter that is the light of my life, my husband has always been the most supportive person.
He may not open doors, is not quite his style, but he compliments me and my work all the time.
Whenever I hear Paramore´s song “Still Into You” I think of him and if he´s nearby by I always sing to him….”I should be over all the butterflies but I´m into you”

  2. LOVE this girl! I met my husband at 14 years old, freshman year of high school. We have been together since then. He’s in the Navy so I comepletely understand the military life as well. It can be crazy at times but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love being a proud Navy wife!

  3. I was working at a little chicken joint, you may have heard of it, Kentucky Fried Chicken? It was the early 2000’s and what I like to call a classic case of an epic love story.

You know how it goes; I was the cashier, he was the cook, we’d sneak off to the chicken cooler and make out when nobody was looking. Oh to be a teenager again! We dated for about a year but then sadly broke it off as I was moving out of the province.

I moved back to my hometown a few years later but had not stayed in contact with my KFC guy.

One night I was in a pub with a few of my girlfriends and to my surprise I saw him from across the bar. I may have been a little tipsy but I swear that at that moment the entire room stood still.

We made our way through the crowed bar towards each other and without saying even a hello he grabbed me by the waist and kissed me.

We have been together since that day. Ten years and counting. We have two kiddos, own and operate a restaurant and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he is my best friend.

I love the idea of epic love stories (as I’m sure you can see lol) this was a great post idea! Thanks for letting me tell my love story!
